6th CSR National Excellence Awards (2011)

About the CSAR Association of Pakistan and 6th CSR National Excellence Awards (2012)

We had had an overwhelming response to the Annual CSR Awards (for 2010) earlier this year. The numbers of applications and the richness of the material have proven without any doubt that CSR had not taken a back-seat this year despite the on-going financial crisis.

The Annual CSR National Excellence Awards, organized and hosted by The CSR Association of Pakistan is Pakistan’s most prestigious recognition awards program for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Last year’s Awards were presented by H.E. British Deputy High Commissioner Robert Gibson top crop of CSR Award honourees that ably demonstrated innovation and creativity far beyond traditional outreach that has characterized the space.

Corporate Social Responsibility is one of the key benchmarks of an organization’s overall success and reputation in the marketplace. The National CSR Awards recognize the corporations and their partners that have executed highly successful and impact full CSR campaigns in the past 12 months. These awards recognize both the communications surrounding a CSR initiative and the initiative itself.

Additionally, for the first time, the awards program recognized CSR leaders within organizations, recognising the individual champions behind the Organization’s CSR Programmes, shining a spotlight on the people driving your CSR success.

Today the public is more interested in business, how it makes its money and how it affects society and the environment. Corporate responsibility is more important than ever and has become integrated with Reputation Management and the bottom line.

2012- Awards Ceremony

With the deadline for 03 February 2012 and the Annual Awards Ceremony taking place, on 24 February 2012 in the City of Karachi. We already have around 30 entrants, with many more showing their interest.  So ensure that you get your nominations in before the deadline.

The pre Awards Networking CSR Summit provides a vehicle for the private sector to gain insights into how they can follow the lead of these stalwarts through dialogue and engagement with peers.  Quite often, corporations and businesses are willing to support the development of the wider society but are not always sure of the most effective form that contribution should take.  We believe that through the Networking session, you’ll glean some useful ideas from the profiles of the initiatives of the nominees that the Awards will present.  These initiatives can serve as examples that future participants can emulate.

The CSR Association National Excellence Awards themselves are a great opportunity to get recognized for exceptional CSR efforts and to shine the spotlight on the people driving an organization’s CSR success.

To have been short listed in any of these categories is no mean feat and I want to assure you that your selection from the wider pool of participants will be no easy task.  Undoubtedly, it will be an even more difficult one to identify the awardees among you but I know that the adjudicators will do their best.

The CSR LANDSCAPE – looking at the Year Ahead 2012:

We have been engaging business leaders as champions for responsible and sustainable businesses to help create a shared vision of a sustainable future and develop a “roadmap” for business to integrate responsible business practice and to take action for people and planet – focusing on employability, skills and employee.

In 2011 we made a commitment to build scale and impact in our current operations while undertaking some key developments for the longer term. We continue to do that in 2012.

Our priorities remain:

To mobilize more businesses to integrate responsible business practice and to take action for people and planet – focusing on employability, skills and employee engagement; and increasing the reach and impact.

We shall also concentrate efforts to grow and engage our membership, Pakistan and internationally by demonstrating the value and measurable impact of the Association.

To research and communicate the impact achieved by business and engage our business leadership as champions for responsible and sustainable businesses.

To create a shared vision of a sustainable future In collaboration with our members and key partners, and develop a “roadmap” for business to help achieve this.

Managing our risks and resources in a harsher economic climate while walking the talk on our own behavior and leadership.

Given that corporate social responsibility is uppermost in our mind, we at the CSR Association of Pakistan are pleased bring an event like this.  We especially note the judges’ stringent criteria to make the shortlist. Consequently, all nominees can view themselves as winners in their own right.  The eventual awardees of course should by extension feel particularly honoured.  To each of them, we extend our best wishes and heartfelt congratulations.

Yours sincerely,

The CSR Association of Pakistan

The Corporate Social Responsibility National Excellence Awards were established in 2005 to recognise the work being carried out by Pakistani and multinational companies to improve the lives of their employees and to enhance the civic environment in which they operate. This is a unique competition that offers the business community a chance to promote their efforts in CSR and gain recognition for best practice. The awards have been presented in a variety of categories covering all areas of CSR through the CSR Association of Pakistan.

Dedicated to corporate responsibility since 2005
The Association was set up in 2005 and now has number of leading organizations as members. We are the largest and one of the oldest national business-led coalitions dedicated to corporate responsibility. The Association was formed by a small number of committed individuals from both the private and not for profit sector. Early supporters have included a number of leading Pakistani institutions.

Regeneration was our initial focus; we acted as a broker for companies supporting local enterprise agencies with cash, people, premises, equipment, expertise and employee volunteering.
Initially, we were dedicated to regenerating local economies across Pakistan through community development and sustainable initiatives. This later widened to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and integrating sustainability into our members’ core business strategies. As a result, we’ve helped to institutionalise and mainstream corporate responsibility.

The CSR Association of Pakistan introduced the awards after it was founded in 2005 and whilst the organization has evolved greatly, we have always encouraged companies to get involved individually and to work together through collective business action.
